About Maureen
Maureen McCartney-Cameron has focused her practice almost exclusively on injury and health law since joining JSS Barristers in 2007, with extensive experience in plaintiff-side personal injury and long-term disability litigation. As provincial counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association, she assists physicians with professional negligence claims and other medical-legal issues, and has appeared as counsel at all levels of court in Alberta. Originally from Northwestern Ontario, she holds a BA (Hons, Gold Medalist) from the University of Western Ontario, an M.Litt with distinction from St. Andrews University in Scotland, and an LL.B. Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa, and gained legal experience in Ontario, the US, and the UK before qualifying. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2002, to England and Wales in 2003, and to the Alberta bar in 2005, and remains on the Roll of Solicitors for England and Wales. Maureen is a Past President of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association and has been recognized by Best Lawyers for Personal Injury Litigation from 2022 to 2026.
