About Matthew
Matthew DeCloedt was born and raised in Saskatoon. He earned a Bachelor of Arts with honours in History in 2013 and his Juris Doctor in 2016, both from the University of Saskatchewan, where he spent a semester with Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City Inc. (CLASSIC) and received the Sam Beckie Prize in Clinical Law, the Gerda Bloemraad Price in Immigration Law, and the Foster Prize in Human Rights. He went on to Central European University, earning an LL.M. in Human Rights in 2018 and an SJD/Dr.iur. in 2023 with the support of a CEU Doctoral Scholarship, and served as a Visiting Lecturer at ELTE Faculty of Law in Budapest and a Visiting Professor at CEU in Vienna. Matthew joined Rusnak Balacko Kachur Rusnak as an articling student in September 2024 and was called to the bar in October 2025.
