About Matthew
Matthew is a partner at Laishley Reed LLP whose commercial litigation practice covers estate disputes as well as shareholder, intellectual property, real estate and fraud matters. He has particular knowledge of condominium litigation, including disputes between condominium corporations and third parties and issues of condominium governance. He also helps a colleague pursue insurers' subrogated claims and defend professional negligence and liability claims. Since 2015 he has obtained summary judgments, secured and dissolved injunctions, and served as co-counsel on a lengthy international commercial arbitration; earlier in his career he represented four condominium corporations in a multi-party fraud dispute worth millions of dollars. Matthew has appeared before the Small Claims Court, Superior Court of Justice, Tax Court of Canada and Court of Appeal. He joined the firm in August 2008 after articling at a major Bay Street firm and was called to the Ontario Bar that June. He holds an LL.B. from Queen's University and a B.A. from the University of British Columbia.
