About Matthew

Matthew Huston is an associate lawyer at Ruberto Sheikh LLP who focuses primarily on family and child protection law, handling matters ranging from contested adoptions to separation agreements with a practical, outcome-focused approach. He completed his undergraduate studies in pre-law political science at Lakehead University and earned his law degree from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, graduating on the Dean's List in May 2020, and he was called to the Ontario Bar in October 2020. Before law school, Matt worked for nearly a decade as an automotive service technician, experience he credits with helping him relate to clients from all walks of life. He accepts a mix of files, including some Legal Aid clients, and offers unbundled legal services and limited-scope retainers for document preparation or court appearances at a reduced rate. He represents clients across the Northwest, including northern First Nation communities from Kenora to Marathon, and volunteers as an executive board member of the Thunder Bay Lacrosse League.
