About Marie
Marie Henein is a Partner who has served as lead counsel on numerous high-profile criminal, civil and regulatory cases, including class actions and major commercial disputes acting for both plaintiffs and defendants. She has argued matters at every level of court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. She earned her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1989 and a Master's in Law from Columbia University in 1991, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1992. She served as President of The Advocates' Society from 2010 to 2011, is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and helped found the Court of Appeal's Appellate Duty Counsel Program. She has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall, written the memoir Nothing But The Truth, and co-edited Martin's Criminal Code and related publications. She has received honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from Queen's University and the Law Society of Ontario, along with the Martin Medal Award and the Law Society Medal.
