About Maria

Maria Grande is a lawyer at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP concentrating in civil and commercial litigation and administrative law, with experience in workplace safety, insurance, contractual disputes, personal injury, municipal, construction, and estate and trust litigation, as well as human rights, Indigenous, and employment law. She has appeared before nearly every level of court in Manitoba, including administrative tribunals and Northern Flood Agreement matters, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Since 1995 she has provided legal services to the Manitoba Women's Enterprise Centre, and since 1998 has advised a major Manitoba utility on Northern Flood Agreement matters, as well as the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation and First Nation organizations. Grande earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg (1988) and her LL.B. from the University of Manitoba (1991), and was called to the Manitoba bar in 1992. She was a sessional lecturer at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law from 2001 to 2010 and has mentored articling students at the firm since 2004.
