About Maria

Maria Esmatyar is a Partner at Lecker & Associates with more than a decade of experience in employment, disability, and human rights law, representing clients in wrongful dismissal, workplace harassment, discrimination, and denied disability benefit disputes. She was part of the team in Keenan v. Canac Kitchens (2015), a precedent-setting case recognizing dependent contractors under Ontario's Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, and represented a client in a workplace harassment case that resulted in a $200,000 damages award. She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and in Canada Labour Code adjudications.
