About Robert
Robert Colson is a founding partner of Colson Winterstein LLP, having previously practised for more than forty years at the firm formerly known as Teplitsky, Colson LLP, which he co-founded with his law professor Martin Teplitsky. He is regarded as a pioneer in Canadian employment litigation and is known for the 1997 Schumacher v. Toronto Dominion Bank decision, which set a new record for damages awarded to a wrongfully dismissed employee and remains frequently cited today. He continues to practise employment law and commercial litigation, resolving complex claims for senior executives in the financial services sector as well as shareholder, partnership, and land-related disputes. Robert has appeared before all levels of court and administrative tribunals in Ontario and has served as an arbitrator and mediator for the province in disputes between teachers and school boards. He has taught at York University, the Ontario Bar Admission Course, and Osgoode Hall's Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop.
