About Marc

Marc McAree has practised environmental law for more than 25 years and is a Certified Specialist in Environmental Law with the Law Society of Ontario. He leads a litigation practice covering civil lawsuits, judicial reviews, appeals of regulatory orders and approvals, and defence of regulatory prosecutions, appearing before Ontario courts and administrative tribunals and negotiating settlements when that better serves clients. Outside litigation he advises on contaminated land, excess soil, spills, insurance and day-to-day compliance, and helps clients manage the environmental side of property and business transactions. He has a subspecialty in on-road vehicle emissions, including compliance with U.S. EPA and California Air Resources Board standards in Canada. Marc holds a BA and Master's in Environmental Studies from York University and an LLB from Osgoode Hall, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1995 and British Columbia in 2008.
