Born in Antwerp, Belgium, and having lived in Buenos Aires and Santiago, he has more than 40 years of experience in maritime law, transportation law, international trade, commercial law, arbitration and mediation. He advises clients across the maritime industry, including protection and indemnity clubs, cargo insurers, shipowners, charterers and suppliers of goods and services to vessels, along with shippers and consignees of goods. In commercial matters he represents banking institutions and shipping and import-export companies, with a practice that spans North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. He is a guest lecturer at McGill University and a sought-after speaker at Canadian and international maritime law conferences.
