About Lisa
Lisa Mitchell is the Executive Director of East Coast Environmental Law. She earned her law degree from Dalhousie University in 1991 and went on to complete a Master's in Environmental Studies at Dalhousie's School for Resource and Environmental Studies in 1994, the first lawyer to graduate from that program. Mitchell has served on numerous provincial bodies in Nova Scotia, including the Round Table on Environment & Economy, the Advisory Committee reviewing the Nova Scotia Environment Act, and the Voluntary Planning Committee on Environmental Quality and Stewardship. She has provided legal advice and training on environmental law and policy across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and Ontario. Mitchell joined the East Coast Environmental Law board in 2006, returned to the organization to provide legal services in 2011, and became Executive Director in 2016.
