About Lisa
Lisa represents First Nations in protecting and asserting their rights through government engagement and litigation, with a focus on Aboriginal rights and title. She was legal counsel for Ehattesaht First Nation in its successful challenge to British Columbia's mineral tenure regime and was part of the legal team on the Blueberry River First Nations treaty rights litigation, which found that cumulative industrial development violated the Nation's treaty rights. She has particular expertise in fisheries law, having been counsel for environmental organizations at the Cohen Commission into the decline of Fraser River sockeye salmon. Before joining Ratcliff in 2004, she spent three years in Chiapas, Mexico working with a human rights organization on indigenous land claims. She frequently appears before all levels of court in British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada.
