About Lauren

Lauren Bloom is a partner at Beard Winter LLP and a member of the firm's insurance litigation group. She started practising insurance defence litigation when she was called to the bar in 2000. Her caseload spans personal injury matters such as nursing and retirement home negligence claims, sexual abuse liability at institutions, serious motor vehicle accident tort actions, occupier's liability claims, and disputes before the Human Rights Tribunal. She frequently represents camps, group homes, foster care agencies, private schools, and public school boards defending claims tied to abuse, bullying, and expulsion. Lauren mentors articling students and associates within the firm and has argued novel legal issues before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal. She earned her LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1998 after a BA in Psychology from York University in 1995, and belongs to Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
