Kyla Lee is a lawyer at Acumen Law Corporation known as 'The IRP Lawyer,' focusing on drinking-and-driving defence, Immediate Roadside Prohibitions, Administrative Driving Prohibitions, and criminal driving offences. Lee was the first British Columbia lawyer to successfully defend an IRP appeal before the Supreme Court of Canada, and the firm says Lee's office has handled more IRP cases than any other in BC. Lee wrote 'Immediate Roadside Prohibitions in Western Canada,' described as the leading textbook on defending 90-day DUI cases, and also authored 'Cross-Examination: The Pinpoint Method' for LexisNexis. Lee has completed manufacturer training on Alco-Sensor breathalyzers, blood-analysis training at the University of Arlington, and NHTSA-standard field sobriety test training, and uncovered systemic calibration problems with approved screening devices in Port Moody. Lee holds a law degree and a BA (majoring in First Nations Studies, minoring in English Literature) from the University of British Columbia. Lee sits on the Trial Lawyers Association of BC's executive committee and board of governors, is Vice President of Education and Events for the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, and belongs to the National College for DUI Defence, the BC Civil Liberties Association, and both the Canadian and BC Bar Associations.
