About Katy

Katy O'Rourke focuses on labour, employment and human rights law, serving clients in Hamilton and across southwestern Ontario. She was called to the bar in 2014 and practised in Toronto before joining McMahon Molyneaux Henriquez in January 2021, bringing her back to her hometown. Katy has appeared before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and the Grievance Settlement Board, and has handled civil lawsuits, judicial reviews and professional regulation matters for both public and private sector unions. She also advises non-unionized workers on severance packages, employment contracts, workplace accommodations and human rights concerns. While a capable litigator, she generally aims for mutually agreeable outcomes and works closely with clients throughout the process. She holds an honours degree in English Literature and Political Science from the University of Waterloo and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto.
