On lease matters, Kate Schoffer acts only for landlords and housing providers, and handles every kind of lease issue they bring. Kate is a lawyer in the Multi-Residential Housing group at Cohen Highley LLP, with a practice built around condominiums, residential tenancies, human rights matters, property tax exemptions and regulatory compliance. Property managers, condominium corporations and unit owners also rely on Kate for advice on compliance and managing risk.

Cohen Highley is where Kate's legal career took shape. Kate spent a summer there as a student, then articled with the firm and worked across all of its practice areas before being called to the Ontario Bar in 2020. Kate works toward clients' goals practically and with cost in mind, litigating where necessary.

Kate wrote an article on non-profit housing for Ontario providers whose operating mortgages are running out. It explains that reaching end of mortgage under the Housing Services Act, 2011 doesn't end their obligations, and that each one will in time have to choose between an exit agreement and a new service agreement with its Service Manager.

Kate is a London, Ontario native who grew up in the city and volunteers in the community there. Law school at Western included plenty of mock trial competitions. Kate loves to travel, with volunteer trips abroad among the journeys, and downtime goes to softball, euchre, and friends, family and pets.
