About Joy

Joy Payumo-Salgado is an Associate in Cox & Palmer's Summerside office. She brings a background in law from the Philippines, having worked as in-house counsel and as an associate professor at Saint Mary's University before relocating to Canada in 2021. After earning her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in 2023, she articled at Cox & Palmer starting in May 2024 under the mentorship of Jeffrey H. Leard while completing the Bar Admission Course through the Law Society of Prince Edward Island. She was called to the Bar of Prince Edward Island on May 20, 2025, and now maintains a general practice with a growing interest in real estate, estates and trusts, and family law. Joy earned her Bachelor of Laws from Saint Louis University in the Philippines in 2007 and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne in 2013.
