About John

John Sotos has spent 40 years advising franchisors on all aspects of their businesses, including franchise system and distribution chain design, system restructuring, and both international and domestic transactions and disclosure. He counsels franchisors on buying, selling, or repositioning their brands, and is recognized for negotiating complex franchise matters on behalf of numerous industry groups. John has particular depth in the grocery industry, working with businesses across the distribution chain, and also advises in the hospitality and automotive sectors. He regularly advises governments and industry associations on changes affecting franchise businesses in Canada, and he assists family-owned companies with governance planning for succession and wealth preservation. John is proficient in Greek. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1980 after earning his LLB from the University of Western Ontario in 1978.
