About John

John Macfarlane's practice covers corporate finance work as well as acquisitions and dispositions for Canadian, American, and international businesses. He has particular expertise in infrastructure finance and capital markets, having worked on debt financings for major transportation and utility projects, including an interprovincial transmission link, an international airport, and a transmission asset operator in Alberta. Beyond transactional work, John advises boards and senior management on corporate governance, public company obligations, and other strategic legal matters. He has held the roles of Co-Chair of the Corporate Finance Practice Group, Managing Partner of the Calgary office, and member of the Ontario Securities Commission's Securities Advisory Committee.
