John Georgakopoulos is a Certified Specialist in Environmental Law with the Law Society of Ontario who previously worked as a scientist for Ontario's environmental regulator, and he draws on that technical background to build practical strategies for clients. He advises on environmental aspects of corporate, commercial and real estate deals, brownfield and contaminated site redevelopment, environmental risk and liability management, due diligence, and regulatory approvals covering air emissions, greenhouse gases and climate disclosure. He also litigates environmental matters, defending regulatory prosecutions and handling administrative appeals and civil claims for clients including manufacturers, waste management companies and municipalities. He earned his LLB from the University of Ottawa in 2007, an MSc in Environmental Studies and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Toronto, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 2008 and Alberta in 2013.
