About Joel
Joel Heard has more than 25 years of experience in construction and infrastructure law. He has acted for owners, operators, lenders, engineers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on capital projects spanning energy, infrastructure, mining, manufacturing, defence and healthcare. Joel's work emphasizes early project planning, procurement strategy, and contract negotiation, aiming to limit risk and prevent disputes down the line. Before Osler, he worked at another major Canadian firm, then spent years as in-house counsel with a large global engineering and construction company, and later ran his own construction-focused practice. Joel is a Fellow of both the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and the Construction Lawyers Society of America.
