Jo A. McFetridge is the co-founder and managing lawyer of Breakwater Law, and is both a lawyer and an accredited arbitrator with the Law Society of BC in the specialized area of family law disputes. She practises primarily in family law, wills and estates, and business law, with a particular focus on fertility law and on working with LGBTQ2SIA+, trans+, polyamory, and consensual non-monogamy communities. She completed a Juris Doctor at the University of Victoria and holds a master's degree in classical archaeology and an undergraduate honours degree in classical studies (minor in physics), both from the University of British Columbia. She served in the Canadian Forces reserve from 2000 to 2012, including as an infantryman and later as a Maritime Surface Officer with the Royal Canadian Navy, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Victoria Pride Society. Since her call to the bar she has provided over two thousand hours of pro bono legal services, including as a supervising lawyer at the University of Victoria's Law Centre pro bono clinic since 2012.
