About Jillian

Jillian Kean is a partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office, focusing on insurance litigation and class actions. Fluent in English and French, she is a Harvard-trained negotiator whose practice includes alternative dispute resolution, and she has built a client base that relies on her for practical, effective solutions. Jillian is a part-time instructor at the Dalhousie Schulich School of Law, teaching Insurance Law and Civil Procedure, and has chaired the Nova Scotia Insurance Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association. She is a member of the Canadian Defence Lawyers and The Advocates' Society, and also serves as a glider pilot instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and a board member for a charitable organization focused on housing and addictions. She earned her LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 2009 and a B.A. from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2006, and was called to the bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2010, Nova Scotia in 2014, and New Brunswick in 2022.
