About Jason

Jason Sutherland practices corporate and securities law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial arrangements including joint ventures, stock exchange listing transactions, corporate finance and corporate law. As a senior partner, Sutherland provides strategic advice on complex, high-impact transactions and has extensive experience advising boards of directors and special committees on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and shareholder activism. Sutherland advises entrepreneurs and start-ups through to senior private and public companies in industries including mining, energy, technology, life sciences, and food and beverage, and assists Bands and First Nations with their commercial transactions. Sutherland has presented on joint ventures for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and has lectured for the Law Society of British Columbia's Professional Legal Training Course, and is a former member of the Corporate Finance Stakeholder Forum of the British Columbia Securities Commission and of the Securities Law, Business Law and Natural Resources Law sections of the Canadian Bar Association. Sutherland has been recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada for securities law, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions law, and in Lexpert's Special Edition on Canada's Leading Lawyers, and was called to the Yukon bar in 2026, practising through a law corporation.
