About Janet
Janet M. Vivian has practiced civil litigation for over 20 years, focusing primarily on employment law, personal injury, and contract and construction matters, along with insurance defence, property claims, and occupier liability claims. Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants, she brings insight into what clients can expect from opposing counsel, and has appeared before the Court of Queen's Bench and the Provincial Courts of Alberta on numerous occasions, while also resolving many cases through mediation to keep costs manageable for clients. Janet earned her Bachelor of Music Education with Distinction from the University of Calgary in 1984, completed as a visiting student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, and her LLB from the University of Calgary in 1991, and was called to the Alberta bar in 1992. Outside law, she conducts musical groups, including a jazz vocal group of students in Grades 4 through 6.
