About James

James Coady is a Shareholder in Boughton Law's Litigation Group, Director of Boughton Law, and a former Director of Meritas. He has over 30 years' litigation experience with a broad practice including aboriginal, commercial and construction litigation, and has appeared before all levels of the Canadian court system, including as intervener counsel for the Council of Yukon First Nations in Supreme Court of Canada cases such as Dickson v. Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, 2024 SCC 10. He was appointed King's Counsel in 2015 and is listed in Best Lawyers in Canada for Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He was called to the BC Bar in 1984, the Alberta Bar in 2017, and the Yukon Bar in 2020. He practises through a personal law corporation.
