About Michael

Michael Furyk is a Partner practicing in business disputes, insurance, corporate and commercial matters, employment, and transportation and logistics. He is recognized for a firm but fair style of litigation that produces favorable outcomes, and he takes the lead on strategy, budgeting and case management for large litigation involving insurers, transit authorities and municipalities. His broad civil litigation practice touches insurance defence, freight and transportation claims, employment disputes, product liability, construction litigation, personal injury, occupiers' liability, and claims brought under the Repair and Storage Liens Act. Within transportation law he advises brokers, freight forwarders, carriers and logistics providers on the movement of goods, and has handled disputes over liens, warehousing, bills of lading and spoiled cargo. On the employment side, he counsels both businesses and individual employees on labour, workers compensation and human rights issues before courts and tribunals. He also assists construction clients with procurement, contract drafting and builders' lien disputes, and defends contractors, designers and manufacturers accused of errors or negligence. Away from work, Michael enjoys golf, Muay Thai boxing, travel and trying new cuisines, and his two dogs, Roy and Henry, help him stay active outdoors.
