About James

James Gotowiec is counsel at Torys LLP, working across competition, securities regulatory, and commercial litigation matters. His civil litigation practice covers competition litigation, class actions, intellectual property disputes, corporate and commercial conflicts, and public law issues, spanning sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, transportation, consumer goods, and communications. He has appeared before courts and tribunals across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada, various federal and provincial courts, the Competition Tribunal, and several provincial securities commissions. James also mentors students through Toronto Metropolitan University's Law Practice Program, offering guidance on advocacy skills, and he co-authored a chapter in the book Litigating Competition Law in Canada, published by LexisNexis Canada in 2018.
