About James

James Vilvang has practised with Sutton Braidwood and the merged firm of Richards Buell Sutton, working as a distinguished trial lawyer for over 40 years. He is a Life Bencher of the Law Society of B.C. (2009), a member of the Canadian Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, and a qualified commercial mediator, and provides legal services through The James Vilvang Law Corporation. He holds an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia (1973), and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1974 and Yukon in 1994, and appointed Queen's Counsel in January 1996. He received the Canadian Bar Association's George A. Goyer Award for Distinguished Service (2011) and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC's Award for Outstanding Contribution (2003), and was recognized by Best Lawyers for Personal Injury Litigation from 2016 to 2026.
