About John
John Hyde has been a partner at Paine Edmonds LLP since 1993 and is a senior member of the firm's Insurance Litigation Group. He has practised litigation exclusively for over 20 years in general insurance defence, occupiers' liability, and personal injury, representing individuals and corporations through mediation, arbitration, and trial. He has conducted more than 50 trials as lead counsel in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of British Columbia, covering motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall incidents, medical negligence, and commercial disputes. He has also established claims management and loss prevention initiatives for major corporations, including Canada Safeway Limited, and holds a BV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating system. John received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, English) from the University of Alberta (1978), a Master of Arts in English from the University of Toronto (1981), and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta (1984), and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1985. He volunteers with the Access Justice Civil Litigation Clinic and has served as a moot court judge at UBC's Faculty of Law.
