About Ian
Ian Gold is a partner known for civil and commercial litigation with extensive trial experience before judges and juries, and his practice emphasizes complex insurance litigation. He acts as counsel to a number of insurance companies, including some of Canada's largest insurers, and has litigated insurance coverage and bad faith claims while defending claims spanning product liability, slip-and-fall incidents, fire losses, libel and slander, social host liability, municipal and occupiers' liability, construction negligence, and motor vehicle accidents. He also defends professional liability claims brought against architects, engineers and other design professionals, and has handled malpractice, property and casualty, class action and environmental litigation for both insurers and policyholders, sometimes acting for policyholders who have been denied coverage. Ian regularly speaks to insurance industry organizations such as the Ontario Risk and Insurance Management Society and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, and contributes articles to the Ontario Broker Association Magazine. He earned his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1983 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1985.
