Michael Lacy is a founding partner of Lacy Naster LLP with a practice centred on criminal defence, trials, and appeals. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Law Society of Ontario Certified Specialist in Criminal Law, and he served as Past President of the Criminal Lawyers' Association. Over more than 30 years he has appeared as counsel on more than 150 appeals before the Court of Appeal for Ontario and has argued cases at the Supreme Court of Canada, including as intervenor for the Criminal Lawyers' Association and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. His practice extends beyond Ontario into Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. He co-authored A Practical Guide to the Charter, teaches at Osgoode Hall Law School, and volunteers with the Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program assisting self-represented appellants.
