About Ian Britto

Ian Britto is a family lawyer with Gelman & Associates who's committed to strategic, sensible, results-driven solutions for clients, with a resolution-focused style of advocacy. Ian helps people work through family legal matters with care and compassion.

Ian came to family law after years of civil litigation. From 2011 to 2012 Ian worked at Morell Kelly on insurance and accident benefits files, including brain injury and concussion claims, and from 2015 to 2019 ran Britto Law, a practice Ian built from scratch to take on injury and employment cases. A partnership at Strype Barristers LLP followed in 2019, with a focus on civil procedure, insurance law, accident benefits and employment law. Over the years Ian has appeared in the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

In 2020 Ian finished the Negotiation Mastery program at Harvard Business School and brings that negotiation training to client files. It sits alongside a Juris Doctor from Bond University and an arts degree from Saint Mary's University.

Outside the office, Ian's a dad to two young children, and the family travels to play golf on courses anywhere from Dublin to Hawaii. Summers go to coaching young athletes with Pickering Baseball. Ian has also gone scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef and whitewater rafting in B.C., and brings a sense of humour, along with an understanding of what family means, to the people Ian represents.
