About Evgenia Karakehayova

Evgenia Karakehayova is an associate lawyer at Drake Law, focused on family law with civil litigation as a second area of work. Evgenia was called to the Ontario bar in 2023 and built a grounding in civil litigation before moving over to family files.

Clients can work with Evgenia in English, French, Spanish or Bulgarian. Bulgarian is Evgenia's native tongue, while French and Spanish came from university study and a stretch of work in Spain. Evgenia arrived in Canada from Bulgaria at twelve, and the move set off an interest in history, languages, law and world affairs that pointed first toward a diplomatic career. That aim shaped two degrees in international relations and international development, at York's Glendon Campus and the University of Guelph, where Evgenia also worked as a political science teaching assistant.

Law school at the University of Windsor ended with a JD in 2021. Along the way Evgenia picked up practical experience at Community Legal Aid, Legal Assistance of Windsor and the Windsor-Essex Bilingual Legal Clinic. Away from the office, Evgenia is a keen reader of challenging books, Peter Dunov's The Book of 900 Thoughts among them.
