Harold (Sonny) Cochrane, K.C. is a founding and managing partner of Cochrane Sinclair LLP and a Cree lawyer who grew up in Fisher River Cree Nation. He is called to the bar in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia and was the first Cree lawyer appointed King's Counsel in Manitoba. He regularly advises First Nation governments on business development, specific claims, child welfare, and self-government and jurisdictional matters, and represents First Nations at self-government negotiation tables with Canada and the provinces. He received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for his work on reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Cochrane holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, both from the University of Manitoba, and sits on the National Council for Reconciliation.
