About Brent

Brent's practice focuses primarily on business, construction, and Indigenous law, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, residential and commercial real estate, leasing and development, secured transactions, securities, and financing. His construction practice advises general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners, with an emphasis on First Nation capital works projects, on bidding and tendering, lien claims, and non-payment and deficiency litigation. Brent regularly drafts and negotiates construction agreements and advocates in mediations, arbitrations, regulatory proceedings, and litigation, including insurance claims and claims under performance and labour and material payment bonds. He also counsels First Nations in Manitoba on governance, employment issues, major on-reserve construction projects, additions to reserve, urban reserves, treaty land entitlement claims, flood claims, and election law. Brent was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1993 and is a member of the Winnipeg Construction Association and the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association.
