About P.
Michael Jerch represents First Nations in Aboriginal law, focusing on governance, treaty rights, and self-determination. He was called to the Manitoba bar in 1997 and the Alberta bar in 2008, and holds a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. His work spans Treaty 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10 territories, advising First Nations on litigation, historical claims, and drafting laws and agreements. He has appeared at all levels of court, including interventions in Aboriginal law cases before the Manitoba Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He also serves as general counsel to First Nations, advising lands departments on lawmaking and strategic positions, and has contributed to legal education programming for national and provincial bar associations.
