About Gary
Gary Shumka is associate counsel who has practised exclusively in civil litigation for 40 years, with a focus on insurance defence and personal injury litigation. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 1986 and is known for being prepared, straightforward, and reasonable with opposing counsel, which he credits for reliably successful negotiated settlements. When matters can't be settled, he litigates them in court. Shumka was previously a partner at Hatter Thompson & Shumka before joining Carfra Lawton as associate counsel.
