About Emma
Emma Smyth joined Gudmundseth Mickelson after clerking for five justices of the British Columbia Supreme Court. Before her clerkship, she articled at a national law firm focused on serving Indigenous governments and organizations, working on Aboriginal rights and title litigation. Emma received her JD from the Peter A. Allard School of Law, where she was a clinician with the International Justice and Human Rights clinic, working on the intersection of human rights and climate change, and received an award for excellence in human rights law. She earned her BA with distinction in English, with a minor in Applied Ethics/Philosophy, from the University of Victoria in 2018 and her JD from UBC in 2023, and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2024.
