About Edward
Edward Apolonio Jr. is an associate at Liberty Law who joined the firm as an articling student after earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law in 2019. He dedicated his law school studies to criminal law and advocacy, receiving the Alberta Crown Attorney's Association Prize for top marks in Criminal Procedure, along with community service awards including the Catherine Miller Community Service Award. As a volunteer with Student Legal Services, he defended individuals charged with theft, fraud, and impaired driving, and he has assisted members of the Boyle Street Co-Op community dealing with criminal charges and tenancy issues. He is mentored by former Provincial Court Judge Robert Philp, K.C., with whom he organizes tours of the Edmonton Remand Centre and other facilities for law students. Apolonio was born and raised in the Philippines, studied at the University of the Philippines, and now dedicates his practice to Criminal Code, drug, regulatory, and traffic offences. He is fluent in Filipino/Tagalog and understands the Ilocano dialect.
