E. Neil Kornfeld is a highly regarded real estate lawyer, acting for commercial and residential developers on the acquisition and redevelopment of noteworthy and unique sites in British Columbia, with over 25 years of experience in real property law, bankruptcy, and insolvency. His practice covers complex development projects, density transfers, heritage preservation, land assemblies, and re-zonings, and he maintains an active insolvency practice representing lenders, creditors, and debtors. He previously practised at Freeman & Company, where he made partner within four years and headed the insolvency department, before founding Kornfeld LLP. His litigation experience includes cases before the Supreme Court of Canada, with particular expertise interpreting the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. He holds an LLB from the University of British Columbia and studied Economics as an undergraduate at the same university, was called to the bar in 1977, and was appointed King's Counsel.
