About Val
Val Hemminger is the founder of Pathway Legal, a family law firm she started in Victoria after nearly 30 years of family law practice. Her approach focuses on alternative dispute resolution rather than litigation, and she completed mediation training, including skills-based coursework and ten small claims court mediations, roughly 20 years ago. She went through her own separation after 18 years of marriage and resolved it without going to court, an experience she's said shaped her approach to the practice. She developed the firm's step-by-step 'P.A.T.H.' method (Practical, Action-Oriented, Trustworthy, Heart-Centred) that every lawyer at the firm follows, and after nearly 30 years of practice she's stepped back from taking new clients directly, instead mentoring the firm's associate lawyers.
