About Dirk

Dirk joined McConnan Bion O'Connor & Peterson as Senior Associate Counsel in 2009 after a six-year term as Police Complaint Commissioner for BC, and previously served as a Senior Trial Attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, where he was lead counsel for the prosecution of the Kosovo component of the Slobodan Milosevic trial. He has appeared at all levels of court in BC and the Supreme Court of Canada, and now maintains a varied litigation practice in administrative law and civil litigation, with a significant focus on medical malpractice and ICBC claims. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1990 and has trained Iraqi judges in international criminal law on behalf of the International Bar Association.
