About Denver
Denver Bandstra is a senior associate at Torys focusing on intellectual property law, particularly patents. Drawing on his engineering background, he advises clients on patentability, patent drafting, prosecution, validity and infringement matters. His work includes helping clients draft, file and prosecute patent applications, as well as advising on IP acquisition, exploitation, licensing and assignment in related transactions. During his final year at Osgoode, Denver spent a semester as a visiting researcher at Stanford University, focusing on whether inventions created by artificial intelligence could be patented and how effectively universities transfer technology. While a student, he served as Co-President of the Intellectual Property Society, won a prize for best blog in IP law and technology, and placed second and third in successive years at an international patent drafting competition. He went on to coach Osgoode's patent drafting team for three years after graduating.
