David I. Schatia, Q.C., is a native Montrealer who earned a Bachelor of Arts from Sir George Williams University in 1959 and graduated with honours from McGill University's law faculty in 1962, before being admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1963. He was appointed Queen's Counsel by the Canadian government in 1991, served on the Disciplinary Committee of the Quebec Bar, and sat on the Board of Directors of the Montreal General Hospital. He was also active for many years as an NHLPA member and player-agent, and has practised family law for more than 50 years, now acting as counsel to Devine Schachter Polak. He is bilingual.
