About David
Morritt was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1984, following a clerkship with a justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. He has been a partner at Osler since 1989, with a practice centred on corporate and commercial litigation, including product and professional liability, securities disputes, shareholder rights, governance and oppression proceedings, contractual disagreements and defamation matters. He has defended numerous class actions and regulatory proceedings, and counsels manufacturers, professionals and businesses on managing legal risk. Morritt has appeared as counsel before courts at every level in Ontario and other provinces, as well as in the federal system, and has substantial experience in arbitrations, mediations and neutral evaluations. He co-wrote a leading text on Canadian defamation law with Kevin O'Brien, and another on the oppression remedy with additional co-authors, and currently serves as the firm's risk management partner.
