About David
David F. Walia is a Toronto criminal defence lawyer whose outlook was shaped by working on multiple sides of the courtroom. He started out as a prosecutor in Pima County, Arizona, then moved into antitrust and white-collar work at a Big Four firm before returning to Canada, where he served with the Crown prior to focusing entirely on defence. He walks clients through the process and the risks involved, raises Charter and evidentiary arguments early, and is prepared to negotiate or go to trial depending on what best serves the client. David has built a strong record in bail court, including reverse-onus and special bail hearings, and he handles cases spanning simple assault through to homicide as well as parole matters. He earned his BA and LLB from Fordham, an AM from Harvard, a JD cum laude from the University of Arizona, and an LLM magna cum laude from Fordham.
