About Daniel
Danny is Counsel in Patterson Law's Downtown Halifax office. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1976 after earning his LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, and was appointed Queen's Counsel (now King's Counsel) in 1997. His practice is primarily transactional, covering corporate, commercial, energy, financing, securities, and governance matters. Danny has served as a director of the Bank of Canada, currently sits on the board of VIA Rail, and served as Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission. Earlier in his career he was Managing Partner of a prominent Atlantic Canadian law firm from 2004 to 2012 and its Chief Executive Officer from 2010 to 2019. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada in areas including corporate governance, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions, and was named Halifax Corporate Governance Practice Lawyer of the Year in 2017 and 2019.
