About Ian

Ian Li is Counsel focusing on competition law and foreign investment review. He advises clients on Canadian competition law matters, particularly those involving mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, as well as strategic alliances, all under the framework of the Competition Act. His foreign investment review work includes advising clients on national security reviews, net benefit assessments, and cultural sector investment matters, all considered under the Investment Canada Act. Ian has advised many foreign investors, including several state-owned enterprises, and has also represented domestic targets in acquisition deals. He is active in the Canadian Bar Association, where he currently serves as Vice Chair of the International Committee for the section covering competition law and foreign investment review, having previously chaired the Mergers Committee. He also belongs to the American Bar Association.
