About Catherine
Catherine Szpulak is a senior associate at Schofield Macchia and Associates, practising across all areas of criminal law with a particular focus on drug offences, including possession and trafficking, as well as firearm and other weapons charges. She has also worked on large project prosecutions involving numerous co-accused. Catherine graduated from Carleton University with an honours degree in criminology and criminal justice, concentrating in law, in 2012, then completed her J.D. at the University of Windsor in 2016 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017. While in law school she worked as a caseworker with Community Legal Aid and served as a teaching assistant for first-year criminal law. She articled with senior counsel in Brampton, gaining hands-on experience defending criminal charges. Catherine has represented clients at bail hearings and reviews, preliminary hearings, pre-trial motions, and trials, regularly arguing Charter of Rights issues before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice.
